About Starborn

Creating more opportunities for female boxers

Starborn Female Fighters Network is a free NSW network connecting female boxers, coaches and promoters for suitable fights, sparring opportunities and boxing events.

Founded in Newcastle in 2026 by female boxer Zahli-Star, Starborn was created to make it easier for women in boxing to be seen, supported and connected.

Why do female boxers find it harder?

Finding a suitable boxing match involves much more than simply finding another fighter.

Boxers need to be matched according to factors such as age, weight, experience, location and availability. Because there are fewer registered female boxers, the number of suitable opponents becomes much smaller once all these factors are considered.

Distance can make matching even harder—particularly for fighters in Newcastle, Northern NSW and regional communities. Opportunities are often shared through individual gyms and personal contacts, meaning suitable fighters may exist without knowing about one another.

Women’s boxing also has a much shorter competitive history. It made its Olympic debut only in 2012, so many of its pathways, networks and opportunities are still developing.

Who is Starborn for?

Starborn welcomes:

  • Female boxers of all ages, abilities and experience levels

  • Fighters seeking bouts or suitable sparring partners

  • Coaches looking for opportunities for their female fighters

  • Promoters searching for suitable female matchups

Whether you are preparing for your first bout or already have years of experience, Starborn is here to help strengthen your connections within the sport.

Starborn does not replace a fighter’s coach. It strengthens the network around fighters, coaches and promoters so suitable opportunities are easier to find.
